Killyhevlin's Luxury Woodland Lodges

While in Enniskillen last weekend, I took the opportunity to visit Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel & Lodges. Killyhevlin is a family run hotel operating now for over 45 years, set on the most beautiful grounds overlooking Lough Erne and the surrounding woodland on your way into Enniskillen town.

Earlier this year the hotel announced a £1.5 million pound investment which included six new luxury self catering woodland lodges, each with their own private hot tub on a decked balcony overlooking the lough and countryside. Opened in July 2021, they have been fully booked all summer as the staycationers take advantage of this unique accommodation in a perfect location for exploring the Fermanagh Lakelands.

From the outside, these new log- panelled lodges look cosy and inviting, definitely a different self catering experience.

Opening the door to a high spec, modern kitchen with everything you need for your self catering stay BUT what immediately draws your attention is the floor- to- ceiling windows at the other end of the lodge. Showcasing stunning views of the woodland and Lough Erne, it's like bringing outside in. Spotting the private decked balcony, I was already imagining sitting out there, soaking up those views.

As I walked across the living area, I was impressed by the high spec and luxury furnishings of these cosy cabins. Of course, I was straight out the doors onto the decking and it just 'whispers' tranquility out there... a woodland retreat.

And, there's a hot tub. The only thing nicer than sitting out there would be relaxing in that hot tub against the backdrop of trees, blue skies and lake views.

The lodge offers two luxury bedrooms (which can be double or twin beds- request on booking) and each room has its own ensuite bathroom, making this accommodation ideal for a family break, a romantic setting for couples/honeymooners or for getting away with friends.

Just on the hill behind the new lodges, I spied a new addition which is a definite plus for a family break. They have installed a new children's playground- and not just a swing and a slide type playground- this is a proper play park with climbing frame, swings, slides and more.

You can explore the rolling grounds of the hotel too- walk the lawns, along the lakeside and onto the jetty. Nature right on the doorstep. My kids loved running around. There is something soothing about watching the boats travel along the water- such a lovely setting.

With the hotel only a short walk from the lodges, you really can enjoy the best of both worlds. You can have your own private self catering stay where you can come and go as you please (thanks to the complimentary car parking) but you can also enjoy great service and hospitality at the hotel bar and restaurant.

Use of the hotel leisure club is included in your stay with gym, swimming pool, kids's pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and outdoor hot tub overlooking Lough Erne. The Kalm spa has fantastic Elemis treatments if you fancy a bit of pampering. I love their half day spa packages including light lunch and prices are reasonable.

Also they have a NEW Padel Tennis Court- the first hotel in Northern Ireland to have this leisure facility. (Additional charges apply)

As well as the new Woodland Lodges, there are fourteen Lakeside Lodges that are dotted along the banks of Lough Erne. The lodges are pet friendly so you don't need to leave anyone at home (additional charges apply). The hotel itself has 71 guestrooms and offers classic, premier, family rooms and suites.

*You can use your 'Spend Local' pre-paid cards towards a stay too or to purchase a voucher to be redeemed against a future stay.
