Glamping Pods are taking over!!

They are popping up all over Northern Ireland- little pods of loveliness taking glamping to a whole new level. I have always been apprehensive about camping. I was almost blown away on my Duke of Edinburgh trip and then of course, there was 'earwig-gate' where I found one of those horrible things in my lovely blonde locks during a school trip to Greenhill! Cringe. Scarred for life.

This whole glamping thing is much more 'me.' These new glamping pods are quite luxurious and often set in picturesque locations. I've picked some of my faves. As always, this is just a selection and this is just a pod blog. Other glamping is a future feature.

Located in Cairncastle Larne are the Sycamore pods. Each pod has electric heating, wood burning stove, ensuite toilet and shower, kitchenette and running water, WIFI and BBQ/Firepit. My favourite thing about these pods... HOT TUB!!!

The pods sleep 2 adults and 2 children under 16 in a double bed and double pull out sofa. and the village pub is a few minutes walk away. Only 5 minutes drive to Ballygally beach and 10 minutes drive to Carnfunnock Country Park.

Pebble Pods, Killinchy

3 luxury pods located on the shores of Strangford Lough. Each pod sleeps 2 adults so they are perfect for couples or a trip with friends. Each pod has a private hot tub!! Open all year round with heating, lighting, WIFI and kitchenette. Toilets and showers are onsite. Firepit and BBQ area. My favourite thing about this site- THERMAL SAUNA. That is glamping luxury!!

Carrickreagh Bay Glamping Pods, Lough Erne

Just opened in Summer 2020, Carrickreagh Bay is one of Further Space's most recent openings in Northern Ireland and definitely worth a mention because the views are stunning and the location is amazing! 6 new pods overlooking Lough Erne with ensuite shower room, heating, lighting, firepit, USB charging station and kitchenette. Breakfast pack and fire pit packs available (surcharge). Pods sleep up to 2 adults and 2 children.

Walk down Carrickreagh Jetty to enjoy the views or take a short walk to Ely Lodge Forest. 10 minutes drive to Enniskillen and close to many local attractions so you can explore Fermanagh.

4 luxury pods in the Belfast Hills on the site of recently built Standing Stone Lodge guest house. This is the ideal sort of glamping for me. You can get the glamping experience but you are only a minute away from a licensed restaurant and I've heard the food is very good! (which is obviously why there are no cooking facilities in the pods). Pods sleep 2 adults and 2 children (on pull out sofa bed) with ensuite shower room. I've been hearing really great things about this site recently!

Located at the foot of the Sperrins and close to Beaghmore Stone Circles, these luxury pods have a specially manufactured 'viewing window' so you can lie in bed and look up at the stars... (how amazing is that??!?) Each pod accommodates up to 5 guests in 2 doubles and a single bed. Private bathroom, kitchenette, TV with Netflix, private firepit and BBQ area. What I love most about this place is that the pods look like a little storybook village. This place is special and it is in a great location with lots to explore!

I've provided links to each site if you click the name for more information.

Please note that each site operates their own individual policies on linens, cleaning and other amenities so please check with the site directly on this.
